Match Report
Broughton Park XV vs Tarleton
The opening 10 minutes were full throttle — end‑to‑end rugby with both sides attacking and defending well in a fast‑flowing contest.
Park struck first through Mike, who finished calmly down the wing with a simple run‑in along the touchline. His second came soon after and showed real work rate — another strong run down the wing, beating covering defence before popping an inside pass, following up, and taking the return to score.
Tarleton responded with a deserved try after dominating the scrum, but Park’s team spirit stood out. Even as the visitors grew into the game, they couldn’t hold Park out, and strong pressure on the Tarleton line saw Park cross again right on half‑time.
Park came out firing in the second half. Early pressure forced ill‑discipline from the visitors and Park capitalised, muscling over from close range. A second try quickly followed as Park settled into a dominant rhythm, running effective set moves and controlling the game. Tarleton began to struggle, with basic mistakes creeping in.
After 15 minutes of control, Park briefly switched off, allowing Tarleton back into the game with a converted try. But that proved the wake‑up call. Park responded immediately, playing some excellent rugby — showing strength, skill and real determination — and finished strongly with another couple of quick‑fire tries.
To Tarleton’s credit, they never dropped their intensity and remained strong at the scrum throughout, but lapses in concentration allowed Park to take full advantage.
There’s still work to be done at scrum and lineout time, but Park’s skills, set plays, teamwork and determination were outstanding on the day.
Final Score:
Park 55 – Tarleton 12
