Match Report
The opening ten minutes were evenly contested, with both sides feeling their way into the game. Park then suffered a lapse in concentration, allowing the visitors to take control and capitalise with the opening try.
Park responded by turning the pressure back onto the visitors, spending several minutes camped on their line. However, just as momentum was building, an infringement gifted the visitors a fortunate escape and a much‑needed clearance.
A yellow card for dissent soon followed, piling further pressure on Park. The visitors took full advantage of the extra space and converted it into two quick tries. The half‑time whistle came at just the right moment for Park.
Refreshed after the break, Park started the second half with renewed intent, again forcing play deep into opposition territory. That pressure was short‑lived though, as a breakaway saw the visitors’ winger sprint the length of the pitch. Although Park recovered defensively, the tackle was judged reckless by the official, resulting in a penalty try and a second yellow card.
With injuries mounting and Park reduced to 13 players at one stage, the workload doubled—but so did the effort. Showing tremendous character, Park hit back with three tries in a thrilling 12‑minute spell, sending a visible sense of panic through the opposition ranks.
Sadly, it proved too much to overcome. The costly first half, combined with injuries and disciplinary issues, eventually took their toll, and Park were unable to find the final score they needed.
An outstanding effort from the boys and a second half performance to be proud of.
Final score: Park 15 - Bowdon 27
