Broughton Park 2nd XV vs Warrington
A tough start to the season for the Park 2s as Warrington ran out deserved winners in the opening fixture.
The visitors struck within the first minute and showed throughout the game why they looked one of the more polished sides at this early stage of the season. Despite the setback, Park never stopped competing and took encouragement from a dominant scrum that caused Warrington problems all afternoon.
Two Park tries rewarded some determined attacking play, while strong defensive spells kept the hosts in the contest for long periods. However, too many penalties, lineout inaccuracies, and missed opportunities allowed Warrington to take control and build their lead.
There were positives to take from the performance, particularly in the set piece and commitment shown across the squad, but plenty to work on as preparations begin for next week's challenge.
The season is only just getting started, and this Park side will no doubt learn and improve from a difficult opening afternoon.
Final score: Broughton Park 2nd XV 10 v Warrington 64
